Green Ideas Participants

 
  1.  Funky Cabins Glamping (Albania) - combines traditional camping with the comfort of hotel accommodation. It's a form of glamping but improves on the current model by moving cabins every 60 days to new remote locations. The cabins are in the form of tents, made of wood and glass. They are located in remote areas with 360-degree views. Cabins are completely self-sustainable. They have their own electricity and ecological bathroom. 
  2. Woodpecker Educative Toys (Albania) - offers educative wooden toys produced from natural wood that has not been treated with any chemical substance. The idea identifies a problem in the market which is the absence of high-quality wooden toys at a reasonable price, choosing to become the local alternative to this problem. By producing educative wooden toys in the Albanian country, the business contributes: to creating an added value product for customers, protecting the environment by presenting and putting in place eco-friendly practices, and offering employment opportunities for the local community.
  3. Shebenik Egnatia Explorers (Albania) - consists of organizing nature, historical, astronomy, camping tours, and biking activities in the area of Shebenik National Park and Via- Egnatia, for people who are in the search of new experiences, away of the daily stress. The objective of the start-up is to double the number of participants, with domestic and foreign tourists getting involved in new experiences, like camping, watching stars, and biking. Their environmental impact consists of 1) Educating the young generation on the importance of the environment and the role they have in maintaining it; 2) Organizing of cleaning campaign, involving tourists in the process; 3) Connecting people with nature.
  4. Project Adam (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - aims to reduce plastic waste and deforestation of over 1.8 million trees each year. Since the beginning of the start-up, Project Adam aimed to incorporate collaborations with other brands to achieve scale together. The idea is to have a combined offer that drives added value to the local community on one side and provides us with a bigger user base.
  5. Creative Biowaste (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - uses coffee waste to create three kinds of products: Tozz Cups; Coffe Pellets and Biodiesel. With their idea, they offer new energy sources that are environmentally friendly for human beings. With the sustainability of coffee waste, the start-up offers better quality and higher heating power than standard heating elements, low moisture content, good durability, and low content of ash. This increases the need for sustainable alternatives to carbon-heavy fuels and the need to reduce reliance on timber. 
  6. Bioplastic Toys (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - Produces biodegradable toys from bioplastic materials. Bioplastics manufactured from bio-based polymers stand to contribute to more sustainable commercial plastic life cycles as part of a circular economy, in which virgin polymers are made from renewable or recycled raw materials. Carbon-neutral energy is used for production and products are reused or recycled at their end of life. Compared with fossil-based plastics, bio-based plastics can have a lower carbon footprint and exhibit advantageous material properties.
  7. ANKAA Project - Urban Permaculture Athens (Greece) - consists of three pillars: 1) educating locals, vulnerable communities & minors on how to reshape their environment and bring back nature in the city following permaculture principles, 2) undertaking the design, creation and taking care of urban gardens in the center of Athens, and 3) the growth of seedlings from local varieties which will be sold to the garden owners, individuals and professional farmers. Apart from the educational activities, the ANKAA Project idea aims to create a network of urban gardens that will be built by Athens inhabitants and will be open to access for the public. Education hand in hand with taking action will serve as a catalyst for raising awareness and changing behaviors and practices for a greener Athens.
  8. Sporos Regeneration Institute - Stop the burn (Greece) -  The objective of the program is the reversal of the practice of burning of olive pruning's in Lesvos where there are an estimated 11 million trees. We will achieve this through informative sessions, talks and also by offering practical alternatives. We visit olive groves with our wood chipper and chip the pruning's which would otherwise be burned and we teach farmers the appropriate method of applying the chips and other beneficial practices such as those water retention techniques, composting, mulching and green manure use.
  9. Skolix (Greece) is an insect farm that cares about the environment and the future of the next generations. In Skolix, insects as an alternative food source for the agri-food sector, providing a sustainable solution to the ever-increasing global demand for protein.  Insect breeding has a low environmental impact and we use vertical farming, which minimizes the use of arable land. The production process is based on the rules of the circular economy since it utilizes local agricultural biomass for insect breeding, while insect by-products, such as frass (insect excreta) and chitin, have further applications, resulting in zero waste production.
  10. Doe’s Meadow - Glamping (Kosovo) is inspired by the amazing nature & landscapes of Marec, representing one of the biggest villages in Kosovo, now almost completely abandoned.” Glamping is a very similar activity to camping, but with more comfort and home luxury: Imagine glamping as a tent with carpet, a comfortable bed, and a safer roof. The idea tackles the problems of building resorts that are environmentally unfriendly, destroying the natural landscapes.
  11. Eco Solution Research (Kosovo) - established in March 2016 with the support of UNICEF Innovation Labs. The company refers to all forms of innovation and research in science, technology and engineering. All research is based on the concepts of sustainability, reproduction and eco-industries, with particular emphasis on the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
  12. Te Pema (Kosovo) - addresses the problem of large and medium enterprises' fixed costs by designing and producing autonomous vertically housed plant recreational spaces that everyone can enjoy. Their product, Façade 2.0, is an innovative greenery application that can reduce electricity bills by up to 30% within a year. The product also includes vertical panels that cover and insulate the building thermally that are built from 100% recycled materials.
  13. Prevails Earthship (Montenegro) - The main objective of the idea/business is upgrading tourist offers with the innovative earthen house as an example of complete respect and harmony with nature. This innovative idea would be therefore reachable right away to a large number of people, as it represents an upgrade of an existing business. Prevails Earthship built in this way will mostly make a profit, with minimal spending and impact on the environment. Furthermore, it will create new job vacancies thus, helping various different entrepreneurs with their local businesses.
  14. Organic Recycling Yard (Montenegro) - The aim of this idea is the development of innovative methods of collecting and recycling organic waste in urban conditions. Organic waste, which is a local community problem, can be used for business and presents excellent raw-material free of charge. It is an urban city farm and some neighbors already collect grass, branches, leaves, or organic waste and recycle it. There is intention is to educate people from the local community that organic waste is a valuable resource. Reduction of methane and carbon dioxide emissions with organic waste recycling. Building zero methane agriculture and zero footprints recycling process pharm, which could be used as an incubator and a great example for all other farms in the country and region as a training camp.
  15. Spectro (Montenegro)  - The main objective of the idea is an intelligent fire detection service – developing AI-powered software utilized to detect smoke and fire in the early stages and prevent the uncontrolled spread of fire. The product is software that processes any video material coming from the monitoring device and offers feedback to the user regarding the fire. The pilot project is taking place on the Luštica peninsula, which is the focus of fire outbreaks on the Montenegrin coast every season. In cooperation with local companies, local residents, and the fire service, we have started the process of protecting the peninsula through the way of early detection of fires and protecting the natural resources of the peninsula.
  16. Peli (North Macedonia) - is a green idea that focuses on diaper waste which is divided into three segments: 1) Raising the social responsibility for a cleaner environment through blogs and education campaigns; 2) Encouraging parents to primarily sort diaper waste that ends up in the landfills; 3) Implementation of the circular economy through the development of technology for waste reuse. 
  17. Insect Pilot Room (North Macedonia) - the idea is the production of vegetarian pet food made from larvae of flies using biodegradable waste as a raw material for feeding the larvae.  The aim is to use the enormous potential of insects for the good of the global population and to contribute to the protein challenge 2040, to meet protein needs in a way that is accessible, healthy, and environmentally friendly.  
  18. Organela - The Garden Can Do Anything (Serbia) - is growing, selling, and delivering organic food (mainly fruits and vegetables) and, with the association The garden can do anything, produce free healthy food for children with cancer that are accommodated in NURDOR Parent houses. In addition to the regular online sale of products. Organela provides innovative services for growing food. Customers who pay a monthly fee for the plant growing service on parcels that are dedicated to them, choose species to be grown and the number of products that are delivered to them weekly. They created a botanical garden to grow indigenous species and preserve biodiversity, where they organize educational workshops for kids and students about environmental protection, biodiversity, recycling, and organic farming.
  19. MIXKON - Company for Professional Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (Serbia) - has a mission to employ people with disabilities and to provide them with professional rehabilitation. The company was founded to produce refractory materials based on the inputs of people in business from Serbia and the needs of the association of persons with disabilities. The products are intended for maximum utilization of thermal energy consumption; Products are primarily used for the production process at extremely high temperatures and therefore, preserve the environment.
  20. Green Express Eco (Serbia) - is an environmentally friendly courier service that aims to transform the process of delivery in urban areas by using electric transport bicycles powered by solar energy. The green idea tackles the problem of the growth of E-commerce which increases the number of delivery vehicles that pollute the environment.
